Day 3- Transportation,

Today I did not take the bus because I didn't get enough sleep the night before and I would have to wake up 3 hours earlier than usual to catch the bus and make it to my 8am class. However, I have taken the bus to school before, and I will say that although I find the extra exercise enjoyable from the 10 blocks of neighborhood that I have to walk through after getting dropped off at the bus, I rather take the car. Every time I go on the bus I encounter something uncomfortable such as this one 35 year old guy who wanted to go on a date with me (and he's married and has his own kids), or another time when I watched this one Asian lady rub lotion on her feet and in between her toes. However, If I had to choose a form of transportation that reduced my impact on the environment I think I would prefer the bus over walking or riding my bike because it calculates the time of my arrival pretty accurately and I feel safer, even though there is the occasional strange person on the bus. Although I did not take the bus, I did practice non-electrical transportation by taking the stairs rather than the elevator. I usually don't do this, especially in the library here at Chapman because the stairs seem to go on for a long time before you reach the floor you desire to be on. I enjoyed doing this because I know I was working out my gluts and thighs, which I need because I'm a little jiggly. Reflecting this, I know I am grateful for a number of things, one of which is options, we have the option to pollute the environment or live like an Ecotopian. By this I mean, we can take the stairs or use the elevator, take the car or walk, throw trash in the trash can or recycle it instead. I'm thankful that I do have access to transportation because my life would be difficult without it, I'm thankful for being alive, for having family and friends, and for being able to pursue my academic goals.
